Police: Arlington business owner at center of USPS drug bust

WASHINGTON 鈥 At least two men ran a now-busted drug operation by shipping drugs from Los Angeles to businesses around the region through聽the Postal Service, Arlington police say.

Arlington businessman and Alexandria resident Dat Ngo is under arrest after he had marijuana delivered from California through the Postal Service,聽investigators say.

USPS alerted聽detectives聽to suspicious packages being delivered to an Arlington, Virginia, address and thus began the investigation that later included business addresses across the聽region.

“This is a large-scale distribution that expands from California to businesses in Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia,” says聽Ashley Savage with Arlington police.

“I聽think they were hoping the Postal Service would not be tipped off to them using carriers,” Savage says.

Ngo and Kien V. Luong of Los Angeles聽are charged with conspiracy to import and distribute marijuana and possession with intent.

The investigation is ongoing, so police could not provide details, however, Savage says they expect more charges in the future.
