HEAT ADVISORY UNTIL 8PM. SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH UNTIL 9 P.M.

FRIDAY EVENING:
Tracking storms
Temperatures: 90s to 80s
Winds: South 10-15 mph
Active weather is likely for some across the DMV this evening as a severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for the entire D.C. region until 9 p.m. While not everyone will see a storm, any thunderstorm that forms could quickly become strong to severe due to the combination of intense daytime heating, high humidity, and a very unstable atmosphere. The primary threat will be damaging wind gusts of 60 to 70 mph, capable of bringing down tree limbs and causing isolated power outages. Storms may arrive in multiple rounds, with some developing over northern Virginia and others tracking east out of the Appalachians during the late afternoon and evening hours. Outside of thunderstorms, it will remain hot and muggy with temperatures slowly falling through the 80s after sunset.

FRIDAY NIGHT:
Gradual clearing
Lows: 63-68
Winds: Northwest 5-10 mph
Thunderstorms and lingering showers will steadily wind down through the late evening as a cold front moves across the DMV. Skies will gradually clear overnight with noticeably less humidity arriving behind the front. Temperatures will drop into the 60s by daybreak. After several sticky nights, the overnight air will feel much more comfortable with dew points falling into the lower and middle 60s.

SATURDAY:
Mostly sunny
Highs: 85-90
Winds: Southwest 5-10 mph
A beautiful June day is on tap across the D.C. area. Sunshine will mix with a few scattered clouds as northwest breezes usher in much drier air. Afternoon temperatures will reach the middle 80s to near 90, but the stickiness factor will be dramatically lower than Friday. It will be one of the most comfortable days the Mid-Atlantic has experienced in quite some time with no weather concerns expected.

SUNDAY: WEATHER ALERT
PM strong storms
Highs: 88-93
Winds: Southwest 5-10 mph
Sunday will start on a warm and increasingly humid note with a mix of clouds and sunshine. While much of the morning and early afternoon may remain dry, attention will turn to the west as a cold front approaches the region. During the afternoon and especially into the evening hours, thunderstorms are expected to develop and organize across the Mid-Atlantic. The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has already placed much of the Washington area under a ‘slight’ risk for severe weather. Conditions appear favorable for some storms to become strong to severe, with damaging wind gusts emerging as the primary threat. While the exact timing and coverage will become clearer as the weekend approaches, stay weather alert Sunday afternoon and Sunday evening. Frequent lightning, torrential downpours, and localized flooding will also be possible with the strongest storms. Temperatures will reach the upper 80s to lower 90s before storms develop, with noticeably lower humidity arriving behind the front Sunday night.

MONDAY:
Mostly sunny
Highs: 80-85
Winds: Southwest 10-15 mph
The week starts off on a very pleasant note with just a few passing clouds and highs ranging from the lower to middle 80s.
