WASHINGTON 鈥� The D.C. metro area’s unemployment rate was a seasonally unadjusted 4.1 percent in October, better than the 4.3 percent of a year earlier, but up slightly from the 4 percent rate in September.
While still among the lowest among big metropolitan areas, the lowest unemployment rate among those with a population of 1 million or more was Boston, with an October jobless rate of 2.6 percent.
Riverside-San Bernardino, California, had the highest big-city unemployment rate in October, at 6.1 percent.
Among all metro areas, Fargo, North Dakota, held the lowest October jobless rate, at 1.8 percent.
El Centro, California, had the highest, at 22 percent.
