Wegmans is coming to Rockville’s Twinbrook Metro

WASHINGTON 鈥斅燱egmans will anchor Twinbrook Quarter, a redevelopment project of existing strip shopping centers on Rockville Pike near the Twinbrook Metro in Montgomery County, Maryland.

Developer B.F. Saul did not say when the Wegmans would open.

“We are excited to announce that we’ve signed a lease with Wegmans to become our lead retail anchor tenant, at the corner of Halpine Road and Rockville Pike,” a statement posted on the said.

“This is just the first of many retail, dining and entertainment features that we will bring to this new destination. We are looking forward to continuing our work with the City of Rockville, our neighboring communities and Wegmans to make Twinbrook Quarter a new amenity-rich community for decades to come,” it said.

B.F. Saul plans to redevelop the existing stretch of retail along Rockville Pike across from Congressional Plaza as an 18-acre mix of commercial and residential buildings, retail and dining art theater built around a one-acre central park.

Wegmans’ newest D.C.-area store opens in Chantilly June 3. It has a half-dozen other stores in the Washington metro area.

Other Wegmans stores in the works include one in Tysons and another as the anchor of the former Fannie Mae headquarters on Wisconsin Avenue in Northwest D.C.
