Cleveland park metro closed due to flooding

WASHINGTON 鈥撀燤etro鈥檚 Cleveland Park station closed temporarily Tuesday evening after storms dumped inches of rain and caused flooding.
Metro tweeted around 7 p.m. that trains were temporarily bypassing the Red Line鈥檚 Cleveland Park station because of the escalator outage and flooding. Metro said shuttle buses were available.
Passengers tweeted images of water cascading down the station鈥檚 steps and flooding part of its upper platform.
Powerful thunderstorms swept through the D.C. area Tuesday afternoon and evening, leaving a path of聽hail and wind damage,聽聽and flooding.
The station has reopened.
