WASHINGTON 鈥� The family of a Democratic National Committee staffer killed in Northwest D.C. three weeks ago is asking the public to help them find justice.
Dotting the ground, two American flags mark where Seth Rich lost his life on July 10, one block from his Northwest D.C. home.聽Walking home around聽4:20 a.m., fought聽with his attacker(s) before he was shot in the back twice.聽Detectives said he was not robbed.
D.C. police officers distributed fliers with Rich’s photo and the details of his killing around the neighborhood.
“It’s something our family will always live with, his friends will always live with,” said Rich’s mother, Mary. Standing with her husband Joel and son Aaron, Mary Rich spoke to the press, pleading for help in solving her son’s killing.
Rich’s family, in town from Nebraska to celebrate his life, said they聽shared stories聽with their son’s friends and colleagues.
“The only thing I can say as a mother that warms my heart is that he lived such a great life, even though it was cut short,” Rich said.
Police Chief Cathy Lanier said detectives continue to look for leads and have questioned those already under arrest for violent crimes in the Bloomingdale area.
“Oftentimes 鈥� in cases like this 鈥� the break comes a little bit down the road and that’s what we’re hoping for,” Lanier said.
There is a $25,000 reward for information that leads to a conviction in the case.
