Republicans in D.C. got a head start in picking their nominee for president. The D.C. GOP held its Republican presidential primary Friday through Sunday at The Madison Hotel in Northwest.

Polls closed at 7 p.m. Sunday with Nikki Haley securing her first victory of the 2024 election season in the District of Columbia, halting former president Donald Trump’s sweep of the remaining GOP voting contests and securing 19 delegates to the national convention.

The rest of the city’s elections, including the Democratic presidential primary and this year’s local contests, will be held in June.
