WASHINGTON 鈥� Animal Control officers in Fairfax County are investigating whether a dog was injured by a bear this week in the Great Falls area.
According to the , a veterinarian treating the dog called the county on Tuesday to report the dog鈥檚 injury.
鈥淲ithout a witness, it is hard to say exactly what happened to cause the dog鈥檚 injury, but in an abundance of caution, animal control and wildlife management personnel remind residents to keep their pets contained to their property and monitor their time outdoors,鈥� Katherine Edwards, Ph.D., Certified Wildlife Biologist for Fairfax County, said in a news release.

Cameras will be set up Thursday in the wooded area near River Park Lane, and will be monitored for 鈥渦nusual wildlife activity.鈥�
