Fairfax police: Rec center employee charged in sex assault of 77-year-old

WASHINGTON 鈥 An employee at a Fairfax County, Virginia recreation center has been charged with sexually assaulting a 77-year-old woman inside her Centreville home, according to Fairfax County police.

Police said Malcolm Raheem Hall, 28, of Centreville was arrested Thursday and is being held without bail.

The attack occurred April 5 at a home in Woodmere Court. The woman told responding officers that a man entered her home through an unlocked door. She told police that, after striking up a conversation, the man sexually assaulted her and took money from her home, police said.

For more than a week, police handed out flyers and searched for clues in the case. Investigators were eventually able to identify Hall as a suspect.

Hall was charged with four felony crimes, including attempted rape, sodomy and two counts of animate object penetration.

Since September 2015, Hall has worked part time for the Fairfax County Park Authority as a maintenance worker at the Cub Run RECenter in Chantilly.

In a letter to patrons of the recreational center, Sara Baldwin, chief operating officer for the Fairfax County Park Authority, said the agency is working with police. Baldwin also said hall has been terminated pending the outcome of his prosecution.

“The safety and security of our patrons is our top priority,鈥 Baldwin said in the letter.

The police department doesn鈥檛 believe there are additional victims.
