Key video evidence released in stabbing death of wedding chef

WASHINGTON 鈥斅燢ey聽evidence released聽in the case聽against a聽19-year-old Fairfax County employee charged聽in the聽stabbing death of a catering chef聽is providing聽new perspective on what happened.

The video, which is mostly pointed at the ground, captures the hostility among the wedding party and catering chef Tyonne Johns toward 19-year-old Kempton Bonds.

Bonds’ attorney argued Johns and other wedding guests made threats against the teen, which he said聽can be heard during the seven-minute cellphone video from the day.

Moments after a judge decided Bonds will serve house arrest and pay $250,000 bond Thursday afternoon, a wave of emotion overtook the courtroom gallery.

Friends and family of Johns stormed out, some crying in the courtroom and just outside its doors. One man yelled “murderer” and referenced white privilege, .

Bonds, a Fairfax County Park Authority employee, is charged with second degree death after prosecutors say he stabbed Johns during an argument over chairs at the wedding in a聽park.
