2 Fairfax Co. teens charged with hazing fellow student

WASHINGTON 鈥 Two teenagers are facing charges in the hazing of a fellow student at West Potomac High School in 2016.

The Fairfax County police said in a statement Thursday that the two teenagers, who are 17 years old and were members of the baseball team, hazed another student in the locker room before a game in 2016. Their names are being withheld because of their ages.

They each face a misdemeanor charge of hazing. The police said they found out about the incident in March of this year from a member of the school staff.

The Fairfax County Public Schools took disciplinary action in the incident, a spokesman said last month. The coach of the baseball team resigned, though the spokesman said it had nothing to do with the investigation but stemmed 鈥渇rom a difference of opinion related to the future direction of the baseball program.鈥
