5 restaurants in DC earn new stars from Michelin guide

Five restaurants in D.C. have earned stars from the Michelin Guide for the first time.

The honored four restaurants with one star (“worth a stop”), and one with two (“worth a detour”).

The one-star restaurants:

  • Cranes, at 724 9th St. NW, in Chinatown, which Michelin described as a 鈥淪panish kaiseki鈥 restaurant under Chef Pepe Moncayo;
  • Elcielo D.C., at 1280 4th St. NE, near Union Market, with a tasting menu inspired by Chef Juan Manuel Barrientos鈥 native Colombia;
  • Rooster & Owl, at 2436 14th St. NW, in Columbia Heights, with 鈥渁 contemporary menu of global influences from Asia to Europe and everywhere in between鈥 from Carey and Yuan Tang;
  • Xiquet, at 2404 Wisconsin Ave. NW, in Glover Park, with a menu focusing on the Valencia region of Spain from Chef Danny Lled贸.

Two stars were awarded to J么nt, at 1906 14th St. NW, just south of U Street, with a 鈥渃reative, bold and beautiful鈥 menu from Chef Ryan Ratino. Ratino also runs the one-star restaurant Bresca, downstairs from J么nt.

This brings the D.C. area’s total of starred restaurants to 23, Michelin said. The others (all one star unless otherwise noted):

  • Mayd膩n, at 1346 Florida Ave. NW
  • Komi, at 1509 17th St. NW
  • Sushi Taro, at 1503 17th St. NW
  • Bresca, at 1906 14th St. NW
  • Plume, at 1200 16th St. NW
  • The Dabney, at 122 Blagden Alley NW
  • Metier, at 1015 7th St. NW
  • Kinship, at 1015 7th St. NW
  • Sushi Nakazawa, at 1100 Pennsylvania Ave. NW
  • Minibar, at 855 E St. NW (Two stars)
  • Fiola, at 601 Pennsylvania Ave. NW
  • Masseria, at 1340 4th St. NE
  • Gravitas, at 1401 Okie St. NE
  • Little Pearl, at 921 Pennsylvania Ave. SE
  • Pineapple and Pearls, at 715 8th St. SE (Two stars)
  • Rose’s Luxury, at 717 8th St. SE
  • The Inn at Little Washington, at 309 Middle St., Washington, Va. (Three stars — “worth a special trip”)
