WASHINGTON 鈥 More than a dozen homeowners in Sterling, Virginia, woke up Friday morning to find Ku Klux Klan flyers in their driveways.

The calls started coming in first thing in the morning from upset homeowners off Sterling Boulevard.

“It has an offensive note inside a plastic bag and it’s usually weighed down by bird seed. It’s thrown on the driveways near the street, so there’s no real violation there. And the actual verbiage is offensive, but聽there’s no direct threats in there,” said聽Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman.

The more than two dozen KKK recruitment flyers seem to be distributed at random and are similar to those discovered twice before in other neighborhoods.

“Sometimes the language is just very callous with regards to African-Americans and the Jewish population, so we do take it seriously,” Chapman said.

Detectives are processing the bags for evidence that could lead them to who is responsible.
