WASHINGTON —聽The聽Animal Services Division seized 66 dogs from a Rockville, Maryland home on New Year’s Day following a dog bite investigation the day before, and now,聽shelter officials say some of the dogs are ready for adoption.
The dogs were being kept at a residence in the 13000 block of Glen Mill Road before police executed a search warrant. 聽All 66 dogs were taken to the聽Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center in Derwood, Maryland.
The shelter assessed the dogs’聽health,聽behavior and needs, according to a press release. Some dogs required medical treatment, baths and extreme grooming, shelter staff聽say. Among those, three of the dogs were euthanized because of painful and severe medical conditions.
The shelter’s staff say they expect half of the dogs to go regional shelters or local rescue partners.
The case is still under investigation. No charges have been filed.
