Montgomery County school officials to discuss rationale behind closings

WASHINGTON — Road conditions, the ability of staff – including bus drivers – to get to work, and the conditions of buses themselves all play a role in whether a school system will open or close.

On Monday night, Montgomery County’s Board of Education will offer a briefing on how officials there make the call.

In a , officials say 听in addition to the weather, they also take into account how many of the school system’s more than 150,000 children depend on free and reduced meals each day.

The meeting starts at 6 p.m., but the discussion on school closings is scheduled for after 7:30 p.m.
