From parades to parties, there are a number of events left throughout the month-long celebration of D.C.’s cherry blossoms.
On Sunday April 3, the annual Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run and 5K run downtown will go on as scheduled, despite the high winds in the forecast. The accompanying kids’ run has been canceled, however.

The Southwest Waterfront Fireworks Festival
Saturday, April 9, 1 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.Â
This includes live performances and, of course, fireworks. The music and family-friendly activities start at 1 p.m.; fireworks go off at 8:30 p.m. Location: Between 600 Water Street SW and Titanic Memorial Park.
The National Cherry Blossom Parade
Saturday, April 16, 10 a.m. to noonÂ
It’s got floats, balloons, bands and entertainment: runs down Constitution Avenue from 7th Street to 17th Street. It is free and open to the public — but arrive early.
The Sakura Matsuri Japanese Street Festival
Saturday, April 16, 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.Â
The is the grand finale of the National Cherry Blossom Festival. Celebrate Japanese culture and tradition with live entertainment, food, performances, and arts and crafts this year at the Capitol Riverfront Neighborhood. Tickets are $10 (cash only for adults and free for kids 12 and under. ATMs will be located at all three entrances: N Street and New Jersey Avenue SE, First and N streets SE and First Street near M Street SE.
