How to catch a liar in the act

WASHINGTON – Credibility is a trait most people want in a presidential candidate. Here are some tips for separating fact from fiction in this ever-changing campaign season.

Sharp pauses. When people are lying, they tend to pause longer in the middle of sentences and give short answers, according to Men’s Health magazine. Also, the response might come out slowly because it takes time to develop a lie.

Another trick for catching a liar is keeping an eye out for excessive gesturing. Scratching and fiddling with objects are two telltale signs. So, If a candidate is asked a question during a debate and immediately picks up a pen and starts playing with it, something might be wrong subconsciously.
