Metro admitting fault in 2009 fatal Red Line crash

WASHINGTON – Metro is admitting for the first time its liability in a deadly Red Line crash in 2009.

The killed nine people, and injured many others.

reports Metro and companies that built the system tell the federal court overseeing four lawsuits stemming from the crash that they will admit liability to avoid some of the costs of fully arguing the cases. The cases are set for trial in the next few months.

Metro tells The Examiner there is insurance to cover lawsuits stemming from the crash, many of which they already have settled.
