Wyoming debates ‘Doomsday Bill’

WASHINGTON – The state of Wyoming wants to be prepared — prepared in the event of a complete economic or political collapse of the United States.

Some are calling it a “Doomsday Bill,” and on Friday House Bill 85 passed by a voice vote, launching a study, reports the .

If approved, it would create a state-run government continuity task force that would deal with food shortages and energy supplies to a complete meltdown of the federal government.

If needed, Wyoming also would be able to issue its own currency.

The task force will examine conditions under which the state would need to implement its own draft, raise a standing army, and acquire strike aircraft.

Lawmakers in at least six other states have tried unsuccessfully to create a state currency.
