AARP holding meeting against Pepco’s rate hike proposal

WASHINGTON — AARP Maryland is holding a town hall meeting to gather support against Pepco’s proposed $67.6 million rate hike.

AARP calls the hike ridiculous. Noting that Pepco was also fined $1 million for failing to provide an acceptable level of service.

The utility asked for the hike in December, saying they need the money to cover the cost of improvements and expenses incurred while dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Irene.

The non-profit says the meeting will have information about the hike, and what people can do to fight the hike.

The meeting will be held Sunday April 22 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the National 4H Youth Conference Center, 7100 Connecticut Ave. Chevy Chase, Md.
