U. Md. student arrested for online threats of killing rampage

WASHINGTON – The student accused of planning a rampage on the University of Maryland’s College Park campus is in police custody.

College Park police arrested Alexander Song, 19, after he was released from medical care Tuesday.

Song was charged on March 11 after investigators said he posted on websites and plans for a rampage that would “kill as many people as possible.”

Tracking Song’s computer, police were able to find him at his dorm room on campus and take him to a hospital for psychiatric care. He is charged with misuse of e-mail, false statement, false statement to public official, misuse of telephone facilities and equipment and disturbing the peace.

The University of Maryland will continue to deny Song access to all buildings and grounds on campus indefinitely, according to a release Tuesday night.
