WASHINGTON – A community garden could be growing more than just fruits and vegetables. It’s possibly growing young entrepreneurs and new gardeners.

Two years ago, the and community garden were born at its newest location outside of the Town Hall Education Arts and Recreation Center in Southeast D.C.

This organic garden is growing in a different way this year.

Beverly Carroll heads up the project.

Carroll says she’s able to hire five local teens “to learn entrepreneurial skills and to learn the art of gardening from A to Z,” because of grant money.

The teens also get to learn the business side of things as they take their produce to market.

Carroll is thrilled with how things are working out.
