Dulles airport expects to see widespread cancellations due to weather

WASHINGTON — Airlines have canceled dozens of flights at area airports, well before any freezing rain begins to fall.

The impact is greatest at Dulles International Airport.

A statement from the Washington Airports Authority advises passengers to “expect widespread flight cancellations between 8 p.m. [Tuesday] and 12 p.m. Wednesday.”

Airlines are offering waivers at each of the three main airports in the region. That means passengers can book another flight without a change fee or the fare difference cost.

With the current weather forecast, Reagan National Airport reportedly does not expect to see a major impact.

Authorities advise passengers to consult with their carrier directly about flight status and rebooking options.
