Firefighter hurt in Alexandria blaze

WASHINGTON — A firefighter sustained injuries while tackling a blaze at an Alexandria, Virginia, warehouse early Tuesday morning.

Fire officials were called to a one-alarm fire on Eisenhower Avenue in Alexandria at about 5:30 a.m.

A firefighter was injured and taken to an area hospital. Officials have not released information about the firefighter’s condition.

The fire was extinguished at 5:40 a.m.

There were no other injuries and investigators are working to determine what caused the flames.

The estimated cost of damage to the warehouse has not yet been released.

The fire caused the ramps from the Capital Beltway to the Eisenhower Connector to close for about an hour Tuesday morning.
