WASHINGTON 鈥 Less than a week after video surfaced depicting members of an Oklahoma University fraternity singing a racist chant, a racist, sexist email聽from a member of a聽University of Maryland fraternity has surfaced.

In the email, sent in January 2014, a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity uses racial slurs to refer to black, Indian and Asian women and alludes to raping women during Rush Week.

In a , university president Wallace Loh says the university became aware of the email on Tuesday, and calls the email 鈥渧ulgar鈥 and said it 鈥渆xpresses views that are reprehensible to our campus community.鈥

Loh goes on to say that he has been in contact with the fraternity and that they鈥檝e 鈥渢aken swift and decisive action in this matter,鈥 requesting 鈥渆ducational training on diversity and respect for the entire fraternity,鈥 which the university will provide.

Loh added that an investigation led by the university’s Office of Civil Rights and Sexual Misconduct聽is underway.

The Kappa Sigma fraternity hasn鈥檛 made a public response yet.
