2 men arrested in Prince George’s prostitution case

WASHINGTON — A 16-year-old girl was put to work as a prostitute, now two men are under arrest.

Police are checking into the claim that one of the men worked as a Prince George鈥檚 County school bus driver.

Raleigh McClam, 36, of Upper Marlboro, and 22-year-old Saivon Sharpe of Oxon Hill are charged with a number of criminal counts, including human trafficking in the case.

According to charging documents, the girl was put to work as a prostitute, and McClam demanded sex from her as well鈥攐r she would 鈥渟uffer serious physical harm.鈥

According to ABC7, the girl was put to work as a prostitute in several hotels in the D.C. area. The case in Montgomery County involves an incident at a Red Roof Inn Plus in Rockville on Dec. 29.

Police say McClam told court officials he worked as a Prince George鈥檚 County school bus driver.

海角社区app contacted Prince George’s County Public School’s Sherrie Johnson to ask whether McClam was in fact a bus driver with PGCPS.

Johnson sent 海角社区app an email statement saying 鈥淧GCPS has a policy not to discuss any individual student, employee or family member, but what I can tell you is, we conduct rigorous background checks on all employees.鈥

ABC7 reported that PGCPS identified McClam as a bus driver for the school system and confirmed that he worked in that capacity from June 2015 to February 2106.

When 海角社区app contacted Johnson to ask her to explain the discrepancy, she sent 海角社区app an email repeating her earlier statement.

McClam faces seven counts, each carrying a possible 25-year prison sentence.
