CAPITOL HEIGHTS, Md. 鈥斅燭he popular entertainment complex Dave & Buster’s will open its second Maryland location Monday in Prince George’s County.
It’s in the Ritchie Station Marketplace, in Capitol Heights, and can be seen from the Beltway.
Dave & Buster’s already has a location at Arundel Mills, and another will likely open in Silver Spring in late November.
海角社区app got an early peek at the Capitol Heights location at a preview party Wednesday.
The 40,000-square-foot complex features a sports bar, dining areas and more than 165 of the latest games, from video games to skeeball to billiards.
General Manager Carl Zarse described one.
“Star Wars Battle Pod, which is a simulation game — you get … into a surround-sound system and a surround-sound screen so you feel like you’re聽flying a TIE fighter.”
Zarse said that, just as they do with the games in the arcade area, they regularly change their food and drink offerings to keep things fresh.
“Everything from the three-cheese grilled cheese, to the mac and cheese with bacon and Parmesan, to the Hottie burger, which is Sriracha sauce and聽roasted peppers,” he said.
Zarse said they’ve hired 350 people, and plan to hire more as business grows.
Prince George’s County Executive Rushern Baker said efforts began years ago to try to lure the chain to the county, and he’s especially happy聽because his two kids love the place.
“It started with county executive Wayne Curry. We wanted to get Dave & Buster’s here. It’s something we thought the people of Prince George’s聽County should have,” he said.
“We’re actually becoming a destination place throughout all of Prince George’s County. You have National Harbor in the south; you’re going聽to have New Carrollton development there in the center part, downtown Largo, and now with Dave & Buster’s right here in Ritchie Station, it’s terrific,”聽the county executive added.
A聽ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at the Capitol Heights Dave & Buster’s at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 25.
The doors open to the public at 11 a.m. that day.
