WASHINGTON 鈥斅燩olice the suspect arrested聽in the聽armed robbery at a hotel and conference center on the campus聽of聽University of Maryland, College Park聽in which聽a security guard was shot and injured.
Jamal Ulysses Green, 24, of D.C., was arrested on Tuesday and charged in at聽the University of Maryland University College Inn and Conference Center, campus police said. The hotel and conference center sits in the area of Adelphi Road and University Boulevard.
Green, along with another suspect, made off with several聽portable safes from the back of the conference center shortly after聽1 a.m. Tuesday.聽The guard ws shot during the robbery, and is still in the hospital, where campus police say he is recovering.
Green聽was arrested in a wooded area across from the conference center, and three of the safes and a gun were found nearby. He’s been charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, armed robbery and other offenses.
The police are still looking for the second suspect.
