
WASHINGTON —聽Virginia State Police have suspended their search for the night聽for a missing Woodbridge, Virginia, woman who hasn’t been seen since Wednesday, though her car was found Saturday — miles away in Shenandoah National Park.
Police said Sunday that they have suspended their search for聽Nicole K. Mittendorff, 31, for the night, with the intention to continue Monday morning.聽Authorities say there is “no evidence to suggest anything suspicious in nature of her disappearance.”
Mittendorff is a career firefighter and paramedic with the Fairfax County Fire Department. She was reported missing to the police on Friday after she聽failed to show up for shift changeover Friday morning.
Her 2009 Mini Cooper was found abandoned at around聽8 p.m. Saturday in a parking lot in the park聽in Madison County, Virginia State Police said in 聽a police release Sunday morning.
State police did not immediately respond to a request for comment when reached by phone Sunday.
Mittendorff’s family that she “is extremely dedicated to her job.”
Her last contact was via text messages about 10:50 a.m. Wednesday, according to a聽 Facebook page set up by her loved ones. She is described as聽a white female with blond hair and green eyes. She is 5-feet, 6-inches tall, and weighs approximately 125 pounds.
State police and U.S. Park Police spent Saturday night searching by ground and air for her whereabouts, and efforts continued into Sunday, according to the release.
