Live sports packages could see tweaks pretty soon

WASHINGTON — Watching sports is an evolving pastime, especially online. One analyst is聽聽that buying individual games could be costly.

“If you order everything individually, you have to be careful,” says USA Today Tech Editor Mike Snider.聽“It may cost you more than if you’d just stayed with that original pay TV bundle.”

Sports leagues are experimenting to see what consumers will pay for.聽Major League Baseball TV subscriptions are offering games online. It works so well that the National Hockey League聽is聽聽the technology.

Next season, the National Basketball Association聽League Pass will聽聽single out-of-market games for $6.99 each.

Snider聽predicts the next few years will be聽intriguing, as customers, content providers and聽networks gauge聽reactions and make聽adjustments聽to determine聽what new live sports options will look like.
