Part of Chain Bridge Road to reopen ahead of schedule

WASHINGTON 鈥 Part of Chain Bridge Road in Fairfax County, Virginia, is set to reopen ahead of schedule, sometime between Oct. 26 and 27.

Va.聽123/Chain Bridge Road was closed just north of Fairfax Boulevard in the section between U.S. 29/50 and Interstate 66 in accordance with a Northfax yearlong project.

It was set to reopen in Winter 2018, but according to the City of Fairfax, construction crews will finish the work from 9 p.m. on Oct. 26 to 5 a.m. on Oct. 27.

The closure was part of the . It aims to 鈥渋ncrease capacity, improve pedestrian mobility and safety, improve traffic flow, and eliminate flooding in the intersection,鈥 according to the project鈥檚 website.
