WASHINGTON —聽It’s been three years since John and Ann Betar聽were named the “longest married couple in America” by the Worldwide Marriage Encounter, a Christian organization based in San Bernardino, California. Now, the #LongestLove couple is聽sharing their advice聽with the world.
After 83 years of marriage, the聽Connecticut couple is spending their Valentine’s Day on Twitter answering questions about life, love and marriage.
Handy, an online home services company, is hosting the Q&A on its 聽and will be making a donation to an organization of the couple’s choosing, reports.
Here are a few questions the Betars聽already answered:
鈥淲hat is your advice on raising respectful #children?鈥
Ann: “Listen to an older person, whether you want to or not. We both learned that from our parents 鈥 respect an older person鈥檚 words”

Ann: “People would say we have wonderful, understanding kids. They respected other people. That was really fulfilling for us.” 鈥 Handy (@Handy)

. Ann: We hang onto one another! Just a few little hugs and we鈥檙e fine. 鈥 Handy (@Handy)

. Ann: “If there鈥檚 something that bothers you, don鈥檛 try to change it.”

. John: Let each other be, if it鈥檚 not drastic. We wish everyone a blissful life like ours. We’re just lucky.

Ann: NO! John had a grocery store and I had 5 kids to take care of where would you go? We amused ourselves with the kids and games.
