Bijan Ghaisar, 25, of McLean, was shot by Park Police on Nov. 17, and a Fairfax County police officer witnessed it, according to Roessler.

“The Fairfax County officer who was providing backup during the pursuit continued to have the cruiser in-car video record the event,” Roessler said at a press conference Monday.

Ghaisar聽died at a hospital days later from his injuries. He was shot in the head three times, his family said in a statement.

The department turned over the dashcam video to the FBI,聽Rosseler said. He called for the agency to make the video public before it concludes its investigation in the interest of transparency.

“It’s important for the information it contains to be seen by the Ghaisar family and by our community, so we can all start to understand the facts of the shooting by the聽U.S. Park Police,” Roessler said.

He suggested the agency make the video available to the public after it has concluded its interviews with the responding officers.

It’s still unclear if one or more federal officers fired shots. The FBI could not provide an update on its independent investigation of the Park Police officers’ actions.

Ghaisar graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2015 with a degree in accounting. He worked in the family’s accounting firm in McLean.
