Greater Washington has some noteworthy homes: famous rowhouses, grandiose mansions, historic cottages鈥 you name it. But the list wouldn鈥檛 be complete without a unique Bethesda residence called 鈥淭reetops Greenhouse.鈥
It looks how it sounds. Trees wrap around the property at 7118 Glenbrook Road, which sold this year for $6.5 million after hitting the market April.
The house鈥檚 design is as interesting as its story. Its former owners, Carl and Barbara Alving, built the home in 2009, according to MRIS. Architect David Jameson 鈥 who Architectural Digest named one of the top 100 in the world in 2010 鈥 made it a reality.
Its four 230-square-foot roof decks, two that face the street and two that overlook the backyard, sit on stone wings that flank a glass-enclosed center. Along with the angled roof, the decks contribute to the home鈥檚 dynamic design.
鈥淭he most gorgeous time is when it鈥檚 raining at night and you come out here,鈥 Carl told Bethesda Magazine in 2012. 鈥淚t鈥檚鈥
