There might be some wicked weather on the way to the D.C. region Wednesday evening.
A breezy, cloudy afternoon is expected to transition into a wetter, stormier night, according to 7º£½ÇÉçÇøapp First Alert Meteorologist Eileen Whelan.
Temperatures will inch into the mid-70s, with a southerly wind sticking around through the day ahead of an approaching cold front.
Clouds increase around midday, with mostly cloudy skies by afternoon and the chance of a passing shower. The main line of rain arrives between 8 p.m. and midnight, bringing the potential for heavier downpours and gusty winds.
“We do have a low level severe weather threat for Northern Virginia and for Western Maryland,” Whelan said.
Overnight temperatures fall back into the 50s and Thursday starts damp and cooler. Highs Thursday will only reach the lower 60s under partly to mostly cloudy skies.
The warmup comes fast after that: mid-70s Friday, mid-80s Saturday and around 90 degrees Sunday.
By Monday and Tuesday, humidity builds and highs could reach the low to mid-90s.
So keep the umbrella handy Wednesday night — and make sure the AC is ready for the weekend.
