Small earthquake recorded in Loudoun County

WASHINGTON — A small earthquake was recorded in Loudoun County, Virginia, on Sunday afternoon.

According to USGS data, a magnitude 3.0 earthquake was measured by the U.S. Geological Survey around 2:12 p.m. near the Virginia-West Virginia border, about 14 miles northwest of Leesburg, Virginia.

There were no reports of serious damage.

In August 2011, a magnitude 5.8 earthquake聽damaged several sites in D.C., including Washington聽Monument and National聽Cathedral.
