WASHINGTON 鈥斅燗 Rockville, Maryland, couple told police two armed men in masks forced their way into their house and ransacked it Wednesday afternoon.
A husband and wife were inside their home on Arlive Court in Rockville after 1 p.m. Wednesday when two suspects knocked at the door. The suspects, who had handguns, forced their way inside, ransacked it and then fled the scene, says Montgomery County police spokeswoman Cpl. Rebecca Innocenti.
During the robbery, the 77-year-old man was restrained, police say. Neither he nor his聽86-year-old wife聽were hurt, Innocenti says.
Police are searching for two black men who fled the scene. They wore masks at the time of the home invasion, Innocenti says.
Police say suspects matching the description knocked on a neighbor’s door before the home invasion and robbery.
It is not yet clear what the suspects stole from the residence.
Innocenti says while home invasions and robberies occur less than other crimes in the county, residents should still practice caution.
鈥淚f someone knocks on the door and you don鈥檛 know who it is, you don鈥檛 have to open the door,鈥 she says.
