WASHINGTON – The man in custody for allegedly killing at least 12 people in Aurora, Colo., told police, “I am The Joker,” according to investigators, indicating he may have specifically targeted the theater featuring the Batman movie.
The suspect, James Holmes, 24, also dyed his hair to resemble the Batman villain, NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly told reporters hours after the shooting. The attack took place at the screening of “The Dark Knight Rises,” the third and final movie in the Batman series.
The second movie in the trilogy, “The Dark Knight,” featured The Joker as the principal villain.
