WATCH: Down, but never out: Last Montgomery Co. duckpin bowling lanes thrive after reopening in White Oak

It鈥檚 a story of survival.

A longtime Maryland small business that many thought had shut its doors for good is back open and thriving.

After the COVID-19 pandemic, a devastating flood due to Hurricane Ida’s remnants, and a communitywide fundraising effort to get owner George Sloan back on his feet, some D.C.-area residents say they couldn’t be happier that one of their favorite Montgomery County bowling spots is still open for business.

You might’ve heard of traditional 10-pin bowling, but duckpin bowling is a whole new ballgame. Called a “lost art” by some longtime bowlers, duckpin bowling is played with smaller pins and smaller balls, but can be double the fun!

In today鈥檚 edition of “Matt About Town,” 海角社区app鈥檚 Matt Kaufax takes us behind the duckpins at White Oak Bowling Lanes.
