Maryland sixth grader who helped create 1,000 masks gets Caps surprise

North Potomac, Maryland, sixth grader Alex Henderson helped create 1,000 masks for medical workers and first responders when shortages hit during the coronavirus pandemic.

After º£½ÇÉçÇøapp ran a story about Henderson’s efforts, it caught the attention of Washington Capitals radio play-by-play announcer John Walton — and Caps right winger Garnet Hathaway.

Hathaway — who runs , which shows appreciation to first responders — decided to pay Henderson a (socially distanced) visit to say thank you.
